The Alkahest waterfall

The highest waterfall in Iran, Nozhian, is placed in Toff Mountain, Popi subarea, Lorestan province, in west part of Iran. Nozhian is in about 3 hours drive, about 40 kilometers, in a narrow road from Khoramabad, capital of Lorestan province. This place was one of the first towns that Arian tribes settled down in Iran plateau. The Lorestan bronze is a famous and important part in the world archeology.
There is the largest durmast and oak forest all around the world, enormous amount of birds' singsong. You could even see wild animals if you are lucky. The height of the waterfall is about 98.5 meter, and nowadays is famous as Iran "Angel waterfall". Its crest is about 5 meters and sparge water more than 100 meters all around. At the bottom of the waterfall, is a pool and river full of salmon.
On the way to the waterfall, you can see traditional mountain villages, and gardens which are bloom glorying in spring. The odor of the fresh bread mixed with different aromatic herbs. There is a nice place for mountain climbing, hill hiking, jungle walking, and fishing. The name of the waterfall Nozhian means new life or alkahest. Although some believe that Nozhi was a word for lentil, but historically there has been no lentil in there.
If you would like to visit this waterfall, try it especially in the summer when it is warm, as you could really feel the meaning of alkahest.

آبشاری با شکوه و دل‌فریب در دل کوهسار بلند سرسپید. جایگاهی دیدنی برای کوهنوردان، کوه‌پیمایان و دوستداران طبیعت ایران زیبا. چشمه‌های جوشان و خروشان از آب گوارا و روح‌افزا که جان را دوباره زندگی می‌بخشد. باغ‌های پر گُل، لبریز از شکوفه‌های نوشکفته رنگارنگ، با همراهی انجیر و نمناک از اشک تاک، در دل بزرگترین جنگل بلوط جهان. و در زیر بلوط‌ها، موج عطر گیاهان گل‌افشان خوشبو و سودمند، همره چهچه سار و جنجال قناری‌ها. و در آن نزدیکی، نمایش روستاهایی کوهستانی اصیل، با در و پنجره‌های چوبین، پشت‌بام‌های گلین، دیوارهای خشتی، تیرهای چوبی، شمیم نان و تنور، بوی طبیعت زنده. و کمی پایین‌تر، تاب نرم رقص ماهی در بلور آب. آری، آری زندگی زیباست. نوژیان به معنی زندگی نو بخش، یا آب حیات که یک جرعه آن انسان را نیز چون طبیعت شاد و سرزنده می‌سازد.
جایگاه آن در 40 کیلومتری جنوب‌شرقی خرم‌آباد، بخش پاپی، در دامن‌گاه کوه تاف است، در گردشگاه جنگلی. با تاجی به بزرگی 5 متر و ارتفاع 98.5 متر معروف به "آنجل ایران". پاش‌نم آن تا صدها متر فراتر، درختان جنگلی را سرشار از طراوت و تازگی می‌سازد. در حدود یکصدمتر پای این آبشار سراب بزرگی از دل زمین می‌جوشد که چشم‌اندازی بی‌مانند می‌آفریند. و با این همه مصائب جاری در احوالاتمان هنوز جانداران زیبا و خوش‌آوا در کمرکش این کوهسار می‌خرامند. فراموش نشود خنکای این آبشار در زیر تف گرمای تابستان که مردار را برنا می‌سازد.
